Omron enhances the performance of its basic temperature-controller series

Not content to rest on past achievements, Omron has made some important enhancements to its basic temperature-controller series whilst keeping setting up and operation as easy as it has always been.

The new E5CSV temperature-controller series succeeds the company's popular E5CS series that established itself worldwide as the ideal choice for simple, cost-effective temperature control. The E5CSV series shares many of the features that made its predecessor a success - including easy setting up using DIP and rotary switches, a large 7-segment LED display and choice of ON/OFF or PID control with Self-Tuning. Moreover, like its predecessor, it provides an indication of output and alarm status and direction of deviation from set point.

Building on the success of the E5CS, however, the E5CSV series offers much more. A new Auto-Tune function, for example, now makes setting up and optimization even easier than in the earlier series. The series also features set-value protection to reduce chance of malfunction. And multiple-input selection possibilities (thermocouple/RTD) allow easy connection to a broad range of temperature-sensor types. Moreover, a new 3.5 digit LED display means that the E5CSV can show a larger range than its predecessor, now extending up to 1999 °C.

The new series meets RoHS requirements on the use of hazardous substances in manufacture, and complies with the stringent IP66 standard. The depth of the units has also been reduced to a mere 78 mm.
